السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Have you ever lost something you loved so much? Maybe a relative, a friend, or someone who made you feel safe. Do you remember how your chest hurt? How everything around you felt empty?
Ibn al-Qayyim, one of the great scholars of Islam, tells us something important:
The heart hurts most when it loses what it needs most.
So what does the human heart need more than anything?
Is it food? No — even animals eat.
Is it money? No — people with lots of money still feel sad.
Is it friends? That helps, but friends can leave.
The Greatest Need of the Human Soul Is to Be Close to Allah
Ibn al-Qayyim says:
There is nothing in this world more helpful, more healing, or more joyful for a person than turning to Allah — remembering Him, loving Him, and seeking His pleasure.
Without Allah, the heart feels lost — even if life looks perfect on the outside.
It’s like someone who is drunk. His house could be burning, his family could be in danger — but he doesn’t feel anything because he is distracted.
That’s how we are when we get too busy with the world. We don’t notice that our heart is far from the One who created it.
But one day — when death comes, or when we stand before Allah — the cover will be lifted. We will finally feel how much we lost by ignoring Him.
💡 Ask Yourself…
What is something in your life that you feel you cannot live without?
What if you woke up and it was taken away?
Now imagine… what if the One who gives every blessing — Allah — was taken away from your heart?
Who could replace Him?
A poet said:
“If you lose something in this world, Allah can replace it.
But if you lose Allah — nothing can replace Him.”
🌱 How Do We Feed the Soul?
- Say “SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar” often.
- Make Dua — He listens.
- Read even one ayah a day — the Qur’an is medicine.
- Choose what pleases Allah, even when it’s hard.
Because the real pain is not hunger of the body, it’s hunger of the heart.
And the real happiness is not in owning things, but in knowing Allah loves you.
May Allah make our hearts full of His remembrance and love.
May He never leave us to ourselves for even the blink of an eye.
اللهم اجعلنا من أهل اليقين والإحسان
